Welcome

The 2026-2027 school year will be my 16th year as head of an international school.  I have served as Director at schools in four countries: Venezuela, China, Djibouti, and Tajikistan.  Three of those positions have been with Quality Schools International (QSI), an organization for which I have great personal and professional respect.  I have been joined in these adventures by my sister, Sieneh Wold, a veteran teacher with more than 30 years of teaching experience in lower elementary and a passion for teaching young students to read.
  
Along the journey, I have earned a number of degrees and endorsements: a BA from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania; a teaching certification through Oakland University in Michigan; a Master’s degree in Spanish Literature from Central Michigan University; an endorsement in International School Leadership for the Principals Training Center and, most recently, a Master’s degree in Education from SUNY in Buffalo, New York.  As valuable as those classes and courses have been, the most important lessons I have learned in life have not come from textbooks, but from life experiences.
 
My sister and I were born at Curran Memorial Hospital in Zorzor, Liberia.  We both attended AISM (then ACS) for three memorable years, before our family transferred first to Boliva and then to Peru.  We are Third Culture Kids, having attended seven different schools on three continents between kindergarten and high school graduation.  Our lives have given us a deep personal commitment to international education.  Whether we work with your students for six weeks, six months, or six years, we want their time at school to be a happy, fulfilling time, and a time when they can grow and learn in a safe, supportive environment.
   
I am honored to be invited to lead the American International School of Monrovia as it transitions to QSI.  I look forward to meeting you, and to contributing my energy and enthusiasm to this new adventure.
